With a brazen theft of a concept from Bruce Clarke of Moments in Digital, we had a Hell’s Kitchen themed dinner party tonight. An interesting theme for a dinner. We were three couples (Brian and Kelly, Steve and Deb, Tim and Lynn) and we were each asked to bring 3 or 4 ingredients to contribute to a dinner — a dinner to be created when we saw all the ingredients.
The ingredients were listed and conversation ensued — what could be done with the richness of flavours and opportunities presented? With a recent renovation, Kelly and Brian’s house provided a great facility for a half dozen cooks to get to work … Only one injury with one small bandaid was needed to get dinner on the table!
Mussels cooked in white wine with portobellos and fresh basil; b-b-q pork tenderloin with rosemary and a pineapple/mango salsa; roast chicken stuffed with artichokes and goat cheese; risotto with squash; fresh pasta with sweet peppers and olives; sweet potato fries with a chipotle/maple syrup glaze. We have had various incarnations of ‘dinner clubs’ among us but never a dinner quite like this one!
